There is no single best system for everyone. KNX is the professional, robust standard, ideal for new builds or full renovations. Shelly lets you automate an existing home using the current wiring, without breaking walls. Home Assistant centralises and adds intelligence to all of the above.

During the visit we recommend the right combination based on your home, your budget and how far you want to go, so you only invest in what you will actually use.

The order that works best is always the same: lighting and blinds first, because they are used every day; then zoned climate control, because that is where the savings are; and only then scenes, sensors and everything else. Starting with the spectacular and leaving the everyday for later is the surest way to end up with a system nobody uses.

What we do not automate is anything that has to work when the system fails. Every light point keeps its physical switch and every automated device its manual mode: if the server, the router or the internet goes down, the house has to carry on behaving like a normal house. That is the difference between an installation that ages well and one that depends on a service continuing to exist.
