Pool Electrical in Torrevieja

In Torrevieja salt chlorination is effectively the standard, and it changes a pool's electrical installation more than most owners expect.

The chlorinator is not just another device hanging off the panel: it has its own power supply, runs continuously while the pump filters, and is sensitive to how the line feeding it was built. On top of that sits the local environment, between the salt lakes and the sea, which attacks screws, glands and terminals far sooner than it would inland.

The electrolysis cell and what happens around it

The cell runs on low-voltage direct current, and its power supply is the first thing to suffer when the feed is unstable or when the unit sits inside a closed hut through August. A chlorinator showing low output does not always have a worn cell: sometimes what has failed is the supply or the ventilation around it.

The second thing we check is everything metallic. Salt water accelerates corrosion of metal parts and of the connections themselves, so we inspect terminals and joints and replace anything already pitted with suitable material. In Torrevieja this maintenance has to happen earlier than the manual would suggest.

The meter cabinet: this is where we see what supply is available and how a new line can leave without disturbing what is already there.

Frequently Asked Questions

The chlorinator itself does not, but the environment it creates does accelerate wear: salt water conducts better and corrodes metal parts and connections sooner. In Torrevieja we recommend checking terminals, glands and the bonding of metal elements more often than on a conventionally chlorinated pool.
