Pool Electrical in Altea

In Altea's hillside villas the pool is designed around the sea view, and the lighting matters as much in the brief as the filtration itself.

That brings an electrical scope unlike an ordinary pool: submerged spots, step markers, grazing light along the terraced garden walls and, increasingly, control from a phone. All of it coexisting with water, so the choice of voltage and materials is a safety question rather than an aesthetic one.

Lighting the water and the terraces without compromising safety

Inside the pool only safety extra-low voltage is permitted, fed from a transformer sited away from the water zone and reachable for maintenance. That transformer is the part we most often find badly placed on older installations: buried in a chamber that floods, or inside the damp hut itself where nobody ever checks it.

Outside the pool, on the terrace walls and steps, the criterion changes with distance from the water and with exposure. We pick the fitting and its ingress rating according to where each point goes, and keep the ambience circuits separate from the filtration ones, so turning the garden lights off has nothing to do with stopping the filter.

The meter cabinet: this is where we see what supply is available and how a new line can leave without disturbing what is already there.

The run outdoors. On the coast it goes clipped and protected — sun, damp and salt punish anything left exposed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and it is a common change in Altea villas. The condition is keeping safety extra-low voltage inside the pool and checking the existing transformer suits the new fitting: many old spots get replaced without anyone reviewing that, and the unit ends up working outside its range.
