EV charger installation cost in Alicante (2026 guide)

More and more drivers in Alicante and along the Costa Blanca are switching to an electric car, and the first technical question we get at ElectriPro Alicante is always the same: how much does it cost to install a charger at home? The honest answer is that it depends on the distance to the panel, the type of charger and the state of your installation — but we can give a realistic range and explain what moves it. And there is good news: the MOVES III grant covers a large part of the cost.

A realistic price range

For a detached house or a garage with the supply point close to the panel, installing a 7.4 kW Wallbox-type charger usually costs between €600 and €1,200, equipment and labour included. That spread depends mainly on the cable run and the required protections. In more complex jobs — a long cable run, surface trunking, a panel that needs upgrading, or a point in a communal garage space — the figure rises, and that is where a site visit is needed to give a fixed price.

What drives the price

  • The distance to the electrical panel. This is the single biggest factor: every metre of cable and trunking counts, especially if it has to cross walls or reach another floor.
  • The charger power. A single-phase 7.4 kW point is standard for homes; a three-phase 11 or 22 kW unit charges faster but needs a larger supply and protections.
  • The mandatory protections. A charger needs its own circuit breaker, a suitable residual-current device (type A-EV or similar) and correct earthing. These are not extras — they are safety and code compliance.
  • The state of the panel. If your panel is already at its limit or short of space, it may need extending or replacing before adding the load.
  • The chosen equipment. We work with reliable brands such as Wallbox, ABB and Schneider Electric; with or without load management and connectivity, which shifts the final price a little.

The MOVES III grant: pay less for your charger

This is the detail that saves the most. The MOVES III plan subsidises the installation of charging points for individuals, self-employed workers, businesses and communities, and covers a significant percentage of the equipment and installation cost. We handle the grant application for you: we prepare the technical documentation, the installation certificate and the supporting paperwork the regional government requires, so you don't have to fight the bureaucracy.

Because the amounts and deadlines change with each call for applications, at the site visit we confirm the current grant applicable to your case before you sign anything. That way you know from the start what you will actually pay.

What a proper installation includes

A serious quote is not just hanging the charger on the wall. It includes:

  1. A dedicated circuit from the panel, with its own protection.
  2. A residual-current device and breaker sized for charging.
  3. Checking and reinforcing the earthing, essential for charging safely. You can read more on our earthing and grounding in Alicante page.
  4. Configuration and a real charge test with your vehicle.
  5. Documentation and, where applicable, the electrical certificate.

Be wary of very low prices that mention neither protections nor earthing: a badly installed charger is a fire risk and can damage the car.

What if I already have the charger and it fails?

If your charging point gives trouble — stuck on red, not charging or throwing a communication error — you don't always have to replace it. We explain this in why is my EV charger showing red, and we also offer EV charger repair in Alicante.
